In our consumer culture we are bogged down by stuff. Instant gratification has plagued our every society from disposable food containers to entire magazines devoted to products that are really only useful for ONE thing- one time use- [insert back of the airplane magazine products]. Our purchasing habits are driven by marketing that is constantly telling us we are never enough- to be enough you need THIS… insert ‘sexy’ product that you actually do not need, not even sort of.
Take a moment to enjoy what you have. Be thankful for a roof over your head, the computer you are typing on, the phone that you use, the food in your belly. Now notice any excess. Something you own that you know if you gave it away, someone else could use it better or for a greater good. Maybe that is simply extra time you have that you can devote to someone else.
Practice gratitude today by giving. Be thankful for what you have. Give to someone who does not.
