Mary-Margaret found yoga by way of injury and chronic pain. Diagnosed at birth with a rare genetic disorder that impacts her mobility and ability to build muscle, athletics were not her thing as a kid. She dabbled in yoga mostly just as a warm-up before performing on stage (watch out, y’all, we have a child actor on our hands here) and did not begin practicing yoga fully until her 20s. Having fallen out of regular practice after a couple of moves and career changes, Mary-Margaret found her way back to her mat after a back injury left her unable to participate in other forms of aerobic exercise. That was when she found Practice Indie, and it quickly became a second home.
Mary-Margaret Sweeney, MSW, RYT
Mary-Margaret completed yoga teacher training at Practice Indie in 2018 with 17 other incredible women. As a kid she loved a themed birthday party, so be prepared for her classes to really take on the studio’s theme for the week in every aspect (example: the week we focused on mountain pose, and her entire playlist consisted of songs about mountains and hills!). Expect to move and engage in some serious svadhyaya in her classes.
