Melissa’s first introduction to yoga was at the Bikram studio in 2007. The instructor kept complimenting her on “how good she is at yoga” because parts of her body are naturally open. What she now knows is the shapes that our bodies make are only one aspect of yoga and the practice starts inside of your mind, breath and soul. It took over a decade to make this realization.
Her personal practice is slow, with deep focus on each movement, includes various forms of meditation and self/group study. The form of yoga Melissa teaches is perfect for beginners, athletes and prehablitiation efforts. She graduated from her 200 hour program at Practice Indie with Shannon Brasovan and Purvi Lippincott in Indianapolis in May 2018.
